Roma forward Stephan El Shaarawy has explained how Luciano Spalletti wants “quantity and not just quality” from him.

Roma avenged their late defeat to Fiorentina over the weekend with a 4-0 drubbing of Crotone, but while El Shaarawy opened the scoring in the latter, the former Milan attacker admits he must do more than the occasional flash of brilliance.

“We’re growing, wins always bring confidence and enthusiasm,” he told Roma Radio.

“We’re growing, wins always bring confidence and enthusiasm,” he told Roma Radio.

“Yesterday was a beautiful game that we faced in the right way, and we brought home the three points.

“What’s needed is consistency in our results, so from now on we will try to win all our games. I think we’re on the right track.

“Compared to last season, the Coach is asking me to stay longer in the middle of the pitch and do more than score goals, quantity and not just quality.”
