Sinisa Mihajlovic praised Torino for their “best performance of the season” in beating Roma 3-1. “I saw 11 bulls out there today.”

Andrea Belotti scored within eight minutes of his comeback from injury before the Iago Falque brace.

“I think this was our best performance of the season, as I saw 11 bulls out there today,” Mihajlovic told Sky Sport Italia.

“We scored three goals, hit the woodwork and created another four or five clear-cut chances. We allowed Roma very little, so it was a deserved victory.”

Belotti’s return from injury and Toro scoring again after two blanks was no coincidence.

“He scored five goals in three games, despite missing two penalties and hitting the upright. Today he fought hard and created. He is very generous and will become one of the best strikers in Italy.

“I was also very impressed today by youngsters Lucas Boye and Antonio Barreca. It was difficult to perform better.

“It’s just a shame about the Francesco Totti penalty, because we risked having the result compromised, as it was in Bergamo. This time the lads did well and held out, so I am happy.”

Torino had not beaten Roma here in Serie A for 26 years.

“These statistics help motivate the team, to make them realise something remarkable. It was a fundamental game for our position in the table. We won deservedly and I want to see more fans with more passion.”

Joe Hart also performed some fine saves on his old Manchester City teammate Edin Dzeko.

“We signed Hart for his enthusiasm, spirit and experience,” continued Mihajlovic. “Before he arrived, I spoke to him to understand his spirit. He is a great guy and a wonderful professional, an international level goalkeeper with great charisma.

“His presence makes the rest of the team feel more confident.”

Totti scored two days before his 40th birthday and Mihajlovic joked the captain owes him a dinner, as he convinced then-Coach Vujadin Boskov to give the Serie A debut.

“We joked about the dinner after the game. He will certainly take me out, as long as it’s not for pizza… I was very happy to see the fans give him a standing ovation, as it was a great homage to a world class player.

“Totti is one of the best of all time and I hope he’ll never stop.”
