Leyton Orient’s appointment of journeyman Italian Coach Alberto Cavasin as their new boss has been met with widespread bemusement by the club’s fans.

Cavasin, 60, ended a five-year absence from football on Sunday as he put pen to paper with English side Orient, becoming the eighth Coach under Italian owner Francesco Becchetti.

However, his arrival in East London has been met with heavy criticism from fans of the EFL League two club on social media.

However, his arrival in East London has been met with heavy criticism from fans of the EFL League two club on social media.

“The Liverani story hasn’t really taught us anything,” tweeted one supporter, while another wrote, “National League, here we come,” and the clichéd, “Good old Alberto… who?”

Becchetti’s ownership of Orient since 2014 has seen the team drop to the fourth tier of English football, while Cavasin is best known for spells with Lecce (1999-2002) and Fiorentina (2002-2004).
