Andrea Agnelli has hailed Juventus’ achievement of record turnover for the past financial year but stressed that the hard work must continue.

Juve achieved unparalleled revenues of €387.9m in the financial year that ended on June 30 2016, plus €4.1m in operating profit – €1.8m higher than the previous period.

“The budget we’re submitting today for your approval is testimony to ‘on the pitch’, an expression very dear to us and the deep tenacity that has characterised Juventus for the last six years,” the President wrote in the Bianconeri’s annual report for shareholders.

“The core business of this club is and will always be football. Our tradition is victory, our vocation is economic and financial sustainability in a complex sector as the one in which we operate, characterised by results and a revenue system only partially governable by a particular club, by virtue of the special regulations in force at national and international level.

“A turnover of nearly €388m represents a record high in Juventus’ financial statements for the second consecutive year, with a net profit of more than €4m.

“Juve are solid and have good prospects for development but will continue to develop their revenues and ensure efficient management.

“Juventus must continue to grow and be self-sustainable, as in the previous season, for strengthening the team and in all the new projects launched by the club in recent years.

“The future represents new challenges, also because part of these revenues are now guaranteed by constant participation in the most prestigious European club competition, the Champions League.

“That’s why Juventus have worked within the ECA, European Club Association, and spoke with the biggest entities of international football so this competition could be reformed.

“From 2018, there will be four Italian clubs participating permanently in this tournament, which makes it more stable and less volatile, also for Juventus.”
