“Dzeko is the same great player he always was, maybe with a little more confidence and experience that he gathered in his first Serie A season,” agent Silvano Martina told Calciomercato.com.

The former Manchester City striker struggled badly in his first Serie A season, but has started this campaign on the right foot.

“Dzeko is the same great player he always was, maybe with a little more confidence and experience that he gathered in his first Serie A season,” agent Silvano Martina told Calciomercato.com.

“It was not an easy campaign for various reasons. A new Coach arrived, there were other strikers doing very well, he needed to settle into a new style of football that was much more tactical. It was just an issue of time.

“I have few certainties in life, but one of them is that Dzeko is an extraordinary player. He has great technique considering his height and can lead the line by himself. His characteristics are quite rare and he can easily score 15-20 goals per season.

“He’s not a classic centre-forward, as he likes to move around and combine with his teammates. Last season he provided seven assists, so I think it’s important to point that out.

“I remember when he was at Wolfsburg, (Milan CEO Adriano) Galliani went to his home to talk to his parents. He wanted to bring him to Milan at all costs, but then Manchester City came in with an immediate offer and in the end he went to the Premier League.

Juventus always liked Dzeko too, as they were very interested during the transfer session that eventually took him to Roma. It’s impossible not to like Dzeko, as he’s a fine professional and gets along with everybody.

“I have to say the fans in the stadium always treated him with respect. It’s different on social media. I want it to be clear that he missed a few goals, but often showed a lot of quality. At the end people realised he was not so bad.”

Was there a moment when Dzeko was ready to leave Roma and Serie A?

“Yes, there was a moment of difficulty, but he reacted in a strong way. Deep down he always knew that he’d overcome it and confessed that to me. He also told me that this year he’d do much better.”
