Fabio Capello has revealed that he rejected the Italy job “in the past” but warns Spain the “Azzurri will be hungry like always” on Wednesday.

Capello’s relationship with the FIGC has always been viewed as strained, with the former Milan, Juventus and England boss most recently denying claims he would speak to Carlo Tavecchio about succeeding Antonio Conte.

Capello’s relationship with the FIGC has always been viewed as strained, with the former Milan, Juventus and England boss most recently denying claims he would speak to Carlo Tavecchio about succeeding Antonio Conte.

“Spain are going through a period of change, but they’re starting [this change] from very important foundations,” the ex-Real Madrid man told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

“Italy will be hungry like always and play with three centre-backs, as have Juventus for a long time.

“I’ve been offered the Italy job in the past, but I refused it.”
