Ciro Immobile was “happy to have made an impact” as a substitute when Italy earned a 1-1 draw with Spain.

“I knew the team needed fresh legs and pace in attack, so I put myself at the disposal of the team,” the Lazio striker told Rai Sport.

“We were a little timid at the start and suffered the tiki-taka, but the most important thing was our reaction, because that was not to be taken for granted.

“The goal in Israel also boosted my confidence and I came here eager to give my contribution to the Italy squad.

“The way we fought back gives us a boost against a great team that put us under pressure in the first half, as it wasn’t a simple result.”
