Milan’s season ticket sales for the current campaign are the worst since President Silvio Berlusconi took over the club, according to figures released today.

The 12,767 sold are the lowest number since 1981-82 in which the Rossoneri had just under 12,000 season ticket holders, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport. There has been an astonishing decline in sales over the last ten years, as the number of subscribers has decreased by 65.8% in total.

Berlusconi is still in the middle of negotiations with Chinese investors over the sale of the club, with these figures presenting a challenge to any potential new owners.

A high turnover of coaches, in addition to poor results and a lack of European football are seen as reasons that supporters have begun to stay away from San Siro.
