Juventus will reportedly present Zenit St Petersburg with a “take it or leave it” offer of €6m for Axel Witsel in January.

The Belgian midfielder was on the verge of joining the Bianconeri in the summer, but the Russian club pulled the plug at the last second when they couldn’t secure a replacement.

That incensed the Juve directors, but general manager Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that they are still interested in taking Witsel to Turin, with his contract expiring in the summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Old Lady will present an offer of €6m in January in a “take it or leave it” ultimatum.

It’s believed Witsel is determined to move to the Serie A champions, so Juventus can simply sign him for free if Zenit won’t play ball.

However, the Bianconeri don’t hold all the cards as it seems likely they’ll need midfield reinforcements in January whatever happens.

Mario Lemina and Kwadwo Asamoah will be heading to the African Cup of Nations with Gabon and Ghana respectively, leaving Max Allegri two short in the centre of the park.

Nemanja Matic remains a target, but Chelsea manager Antonio Conte doesn’t want to let him go, while Blaise Matuidi is still thought to be keen on a move to Turin, as is his agent, Mino Raiola.

However, Paris Saint-Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi blocked a move in the summer, and may do so again.
