“Bonucci and Dybala are already locked down to contracts, but it is only right to give them recognition with improved wages. We are working to improve their contracts, also to maintain balance in the locker room.

“We want a cohesive group without ‘star’ names who earn much more than the others,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

As Roma won 3-1 away to Napoli earlier today, a victory would put Juventus five points clear at the top of the table.

“The season is taken step by step, one game at a time. We are in an early phase and, as we saw last season, things can change quickly.

“We mustn’t rest on our laurels and instead show strength by not looking at the standings.”

Juventus have 16-year-old striker Moise Kean on the bench this evening and he could become the first person born in the new Millennium to play in Serie A.

“It’s a great sign that should be emulated by other clubs. At this stage of his development, there are moments where he must learn on both a human and footballing level.

“We consider his presence on the bench to be a good advert for football and a response to criticism of young players not being used enough.”
