“I don’t know what happened. The game was over, we were in complete control and there was this two-minute blackout,” El Shaarawy told Sky Sport Italia.

“We keep getting into good situations and then pay for distractions, conceding cheap goals. It’s inexplicable.

“We just had to keep the ball, as we had a two-goal cushion. I am happy on a personal level for my brace, but am angry at the final result. We should’ve won.

“These two goals must force us to reflect and we can’t slip back into old habits. Without consistency, we’ll go nowhere.”

Astra Giurgiu earned a shock 2-1 win away to Viktoria Plzen, so Roma and Austria Vienna are two points clear at the top of the group.
