There are reports the Inter hierarchy in Italy and China are discussing whether to sack Frank de Boer now or after Torino.

The Nerazzurri were beaten 2-1 by Atalanta this afternoon, their third consecutive Serie A defeat.

De Boer has lost six of his total 12 competitive games in charge of the club and performances have been poor.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Dutchman will be given the benefit of the doubt at least until Wednesday night’s Serie A midweek round against Torino.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Dutchman will be given the benefit of the doubt at least until Wednesday night’s Serie A midweek round against Torino.

De Boer was interviewed by Sky in Bergamo and asked point-blank if he believed he'd still be on the bench on Wednesday. His reply was "I don't know."

However, Calciomercato.com insist a series of conference calls are taking place tonight between the Italian and Chinese directors, so a decision could be made before then.

President Erick Thohir and CEO Michael Bolingbroke support De Boer whereas the Suning Group and director Piero Ausilio are not convinced.

Ausilio’s comments to Mediaset Premium before the defeat to Atalanta certainly were not reassuring.

The options to replace De Boer include Leonardo, who already took on the caretaker role after Rafa Benitez was dismissed in December 2010.

Former Inter player Andrea Mandorlini, who was a Coach at Verona and Atalanta, is another alternative with ex-Lazio boss Stefano Pioli.

Laurent Blanc, who again spent some of his playing career at Inter, is the favourite, but the club is not sure it wants to sign him to a long-term contract.
