Roberto De Zerbi admits Palermo have problems after a 4-1 defeat at Roma. “Our attitude was simply too passive.”

It was only 1-0 at half-time with a Mohamed Salah angled drive, but the Giallorossi took control after the break to win 4-1 with Leandro Paredes, Stephan El Shaarawy and Edin Dzeko goals.

“We have conceded eight goals in the last two games, but they were against top level sides like Torino and Roma,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We have conceded eight goals in the last two games, but they were against top level sides like Torino and Roma,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“In the first half we were organised, but then we had an attitude that was simply too passive. We have to look at things the way they are. The important thing now is not that we lost, but to get back on our feet.

“I knew the kind of situation I would find here, but the potential of the squad is good. We need to add something more. I am focused on my work, so I am not concerned at conceding a few more goals.

“It’s true we struggle in attack, but I didn’t have this team from pre-season and therefore cannot just bring over all the tactical approaches I had at Foggia. That takes time and a lot of work. I still have to figure out who I’m dealing with.

“This is a team with no counter-attacking characteristics, so we need to keep the ball. We can’t force it. Yet we must have the strength to stay in the opposition half.

“It has to come through a passing game and for that to work we need more belief in ourselves.”
