Roberto De Zerbi concedes he is in danger after “mentally weak” Palermo fell to another home defeat against Udinese.

The Sicilians had gone in front early on through Ilija Nestorovski, but were swept aside 3-1 for a fifth consecutive domestic loss.

“In the first half we had a great chance with Carlos Embalo and that’s the kind of opportunity we need to be taking,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are mentally weak and that is a worrying aspect of this situation. I am not worried at the idea of being sacked, but I am worried by the lack of mentality in the team.

“So many players here have great potential, but we need to see that come out into reality and that requires self-belief. Otherwise, you can’t be a professional football player based on potential alone.

“It is a psychological issue, as when we need to be incisive in attack, we falter.”

There are already reports that President Maurizio Zamparini is considering another change of management, having only hired De Zerbi to replace Davide Ballardini after two rounds this season.

“I have to focus on my work. I know the risks I run and will not hold back, as that’s just not me. I know there’s a lot of hard work and if we want to continue together, I am convinced we can finish outside the bottom three.

“Safety is above all earned with the mind, that is my belief. I’d like us to be more solid and not let defeats get us down.”
