Fiorentina defender Sebastian De Maio was pleased with his Europa league performance on Tuesday but now ‘must convince Paulo Sousa’.

The former Genoa player joined the Viola on loan from Anderlecht in the summer, but has so far played just 90 minutes of football in the Serie A campaign.

He was however, handed his second Europa League start by Coach Paulo Sousa on Thursday evening against Slovan Liberec, and is determined to convince the Portuguese boss that he deserves to feature more for the club.

"We are becoming more consistent, we played well with concentration and attention.

“Slovan Liberec were a surprise for us, but this time we shut them down. Fiorentina are a great club and I feel good, I knew I had to fight to earn the shirt.

"Now I just have to convince Sousa.”
