Crotone Coach Davide Nicola believes his men “came so close to bringing home a point” against Inter, but they collapsed late on.

The minnows were in their first ever trip to San Siro and it was goalless up until the 84th minute, but eventually ended 3-0.

“We suffered under a lot of Inter pressure, but were always solid. It’s a shame we didn’t read that situation well for the Ivan Perisic goal, but I am satisfied with the overall performance,” Nicola told Sky Sport Italia.

“After their goal the spaces opened up and we conceded another two goals. At least the team has realised it can fight it out with anyone now. I believed in our chances and it’s a real shame, because we came so close to bringing home a point.

“We have already improved a great deal in terms of reading key moments and being competitive. I am studying our opponents carefully and we weren’t fooled by Inter’s recent form, as they have players who can hurt you at any moment.

“We did really well for 84 minutes and should’ve held on for a few more.”
