Marek Hamsik has revealed that if his Napoli side were to win a Serie A title, he 'could retire the next day'.

After the Slovakian discussed how he had recieved offers from other top Italian sides, and his aims to beat Diego Maradona's scoring record this season, thoughts turned to Napoli's ambitions as a whole.

But with Juventus already nine points ahead of the Partenopei, is it already over?

"I hope not," Hamsik continued in his interview with Corriere dello Sport. "With [Walter] Mazzarri and [Maurizio] Sarri, then there was something that failed, maybe it was that we didn’t have certain features that the Bianconeri displayed, for example.

"We have no regrets, because maybe that's how it should go, and in the end those who deserved it were rewarded.

"Maybe we were lacking a little bit of malice, or maybe that mentality that is acquired over time. That is what Juventus proved to have for example, especially last year, when they left it late.

"Or maybe we needed a little bit of luck, that at times helps and can even prove to be decisive.

"There are little details that are lost in memory, but under the circumstances they could have overturned the meaning of that season. But you must look forward.

"If I were to win the Scudetto with the shirt of Napoli, I could retire the next day."
