“I am curious to see us confront a team that is in such great shape, as Roma are the favourites to challenge Juventus for the Scudetto,” said Gasp in his Press conference.

“There is a lot of attention around us right now and we’ll see how we hold up. We’re scoring many goals and conceding relatively few, just like Roma. Their capabilities in attack are extraordinary with the pace of Mohamed Salah and Diego Perotti, the physical strength of Edin Dzeko and dazzling runs of Radja Nainggolan.”

Atalanta have won five of the last six rounds and a victory tomorrow would put them within a point of the Giallorossi.

“We must try to play our style of football, as much as that will be possible. We are a surprise right now, but in order to certify our current status we need more games. It’s a positive streak, though there are teams behind is with much greater capabilities.

“We haven’t become big-headed, we are simply confident and aware of our strengths, so hope to keep this run going as long as possible.”

Atalanta are building their success on young players and several of them are called up by Giampiero Ventura for an Italy get-together next week.

“It’s always good for players to be called up and validated for their good performances, but it does irritate me a little to lose seven players for several days. It’s especially annoying straight after a break for international duty.”

Rafael Toloi is back in the side, but Boukary Drame is on the treatment table.

Atalanta squad for Roma: Bassi, Berisha, Caldara, Carmona, D’Alessandro, Freuler, Gagliardini, Gomez, Grassi, Kessie, Kurtic, Masiello, Migliaccio, Paloschi, Pesic, Petagna, Pinilla, Raimondi, Spinazzola, Sportiello, Stendardo, Toloi, Zukanovic
