Giacomo Bonaventura admits Milan have “great regret” after Inter’s 92nd-minute equaliser in the Derby della Madonnina.

Suso had twice given them the lead, but Antonio Candreva and a last-gasp Ivan Perisic equaliser sealed it on 2-2.

“There is great regret, because the equaliser came so close to the end of the match,” Bonaventura told Mediaset Premium.

“We are disappointed, as we had a great opportunity to win and go into second place. We didn’t have the strength to hold out for the 2-1 result.

“This game must give us the determination to face the next match with stronger spirit. The team worked hard, did some good things, some not so good.

“A result like this will help the younger players to mature.”

Milan are nonetheless in joint second place with Roma, seven points off leaders Juventus.

“The President (Silvio Berlusconi) came to the locker room after the final whistle and complimented the team, because we are in a good position in the table and did play well.”
