After making just ten starts for the Orocibi last season, Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has handed the youngster a much more prominent role this term. Conti has already started eight matches this time around, as his side have risen to fifth in the Serie A table.

"Personally, my role model is Dani Alves, the Lecco-native told Gazzetta dello Sport. "He's fullback with a lot of motivation and technique. But I also look at [Mattia] De Sciglio and [Matteo] Darmian are already in important teams at such a young age."
The youngster has made 14 appearances for the Italy U-21 side, but is yet to make his full senior debut. Where does Conti think the future lies for him?
"I do not think about where I will be in ten years, now I struggle to even think about tomorrow. The market does not concern me, nor do I care. I think about Atalanta, the U-21s, and impressing [Giampiero] Ventura. The rest does not affect me in the slightest, I feel at home here and I don’t see any reason to leave at all."
"The defensive part of my game is my downfall, as well as the management of energy.
"And off the field I’m a bit lazy and a bit touchy. I’m working on the touchy part, I’m better than I was.
"I'm lazy, yes but in the sense that I'm a quiet guy, I don’t like to go out. I’m not particularly active and my girlfriend Daria tells me off. She wants to walk around, go shopping, I like to stay at home, on the couch, watching TV.
"I live in the center of Bergamo, now on my own but before with her. I am also the uncle to two girls, Giorgia and Alessia, who are daughters of my brother.
"Other passions? My dachshund Arturo, and my girlfriend's two dogs, Tobias and Ugo. "
"Fans ask us about qualifying for Europe. Also I'd love us to, of course.
"Now I say it is possible, these last two months have made it possible in the future, it depends on us what the opposition do. Potentially we have all the qualities to make it.
