Torino, victims of the Superga tragedy, offer their condolences to Chapecoense – “we’re with you in brotherhood”.

This morning a passenger plane carrying the team to their Copa Sudamericana final crashed in Colombia, with 76 of the 81 people on board killed.

Only three members of the side survived the initial crash, bringing echoes of the Superga tragedy which killed the entire ‘Grande Torino’ side in 1949.

“President Urbano Cairo and all at Torino FC participate in mourning the tragedy that struck Chapecoense in Colombia,” a statement on the club’s website reads.

“It’s a fate that now binds us inextricably, we’re with you in brotherhood.”
