Roma go into Sunday’s Derby della Capitale against Lazio just four points behind Serie A leaders Juventus after their victory over Pescara and the Bianconeri’s defeat to Genoa, and Szczesny is ready to “win” things with the Lupi.

“Olimpico not being a full house? Honestly, it’s not great for a football player,” the goalkeeper, on loan from Arsenal, told Corriere dello Sport.

“When I was at Arsenal, I saw pictures of the Roman derby on TV and thought it sounded great, with a full house bubbling up.

“I’d have liked to play in those games as well, with the fans filling the stadium, so I hope sooner or later to play at a full Olympico.

“Still, in the meantime, we’ll have to focus on the pitch, not the stands.

“Do I think about the Scudetto? Of course. I returned to Roma because I want to win. There are still many games, anything is possible.

“But for now, it’s better to think about the derby. If we win, we’ll be one step closer to our ultimate objective.

“You have to take one step at a time, you have to try to take three points from every game.

“I don’t want to think too far ahead as we’re still six months from the end of the season. We all have this great goal in mind, but for now, what counts is only Sunday.

“Returning to Arsenal? I’m not thinking so far ahead. If I think about July 2017 then I can’t concentrate on what I’m doing now, so I prefer to live in the present.”
