Atalanta seemed all set to fire Coach Gian Piero Gasperini after losing four of the opening five rounds, but since then won eight out of nine, drawing the other.
“Gasperini has integrated very well into our work ethic in Bergamo. Today there is an entire province cheering on Atalanta against a squad that is stronger on paper.
“We’ll play like provincials and it is an honour for us to do so. In June we made a choice by picking Gasperini and were proved right. Now we want to carry on this philosophy and project.”
