Andrea Belotti had given Toro the lead in the Derby della Mole, but a Gonzalo Higuain brace and Miralem Pjanic turned it around.

“It was a very balanced encounter and either side could’ve won it really,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We spent the entire second half in the opposition half and kept the tempo up, but when you don’t convert chances and make a mistake at the back, Juve will punish you.”

The turning point came in the second half when Mihajlovic made a triple substitution and moments later Juve went 2-1 up.

“I was not happy with a 1-1, as Juve didn’t have a shot on target in the second half and I wanted to win it. Unfortunately 30 seconds after the substitutions they scored a second goal and that knocked the wind out of our sails.

“I don’t regret it, no, because my team must always play for the victory and take risks to achieve it, regardless of who the opponents are.

“Antonio Barreca could’ve defended better, but he’s 18 years old and up against a champion like Higuain who used his experience to get into the right position and turn him.

“We were unlucky on the first goal, because it basically hit Mario Mandzukic on the heel and turned into an assist. Ah well, what can you do?

“Let’s not forget we were playing against Juventus, who have won the last five Scudetti. The second half we played much better and at 1-1 I was convinced we would go ahead and win it, or at least not lose in those conditions.”

Belotti was on target again and showed a great work-rate to track back.

“He is an extraordinary player who can do much, much better. With all due respect to Higuain, Belotti is the ideal striker for my idea of football and one day he’ll be the ideal striker for any club in the world.”
