Ivan Juric believes Genoa “played better than we did against Juventus” despite a 2-0 defeat to Inter at San Siro.

The Grifone had the better of the opening half-hour and forced two goal-line clearances along with Samir Handanovic saves, but were caught out by a Marcelo Brozovic brace.

“Unfortunately we didn’t convert our chances and the fact we created so much without scoring is something we must take the blame for,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“Unfortunately we didn’t convert our chances and the fact we created so much without scoring is something we must take the blame for,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“I think the first Inter goal was offside, as there were so many players blocking our goalkeeper’s view. That was the first shot on target and we went behind.

“We allowed Inter so little, they created hardly anything and even after we went 1-0 down it was a very balanced match, as I was afraid we’d get caught on the counter. Genoa were superior to Inter in every respect other than the result.

“Diego Laxalt did better than Antonio Candreva and Darko Lazovic regularly beat Yuto Nagatomo, so if someone tells me otherwise then they don’t understand football.

“If we create 10 scoring opportunities and someone tells me Giovanni Simeone was isolated in attack, it means I must have dreamed up a whole different game.

“I believe we played decidedly better than against Juventus, but in that game we were clinical and this time we weren’t.”

Genoa steamrollered Juve 3-1 at Marassi, but have struggled on their travels.
