Napoli have confirmed that defender Kalidou Koulibally suffered a strain to the external collateral ligament in his knee after the match with Cagliari on Sunday.

"Kalidou Koulibaly underwent medical tests this morning after the injury which forced him out of the match against Cagliari.

"The tests showed elongation of the external collateral ligament in his left knee.

"The defender will undergo rehabilitation work in the coming days."

Although the club did not indicate how long the 25-year-old would be out for, club doctor Alfonso De Nicola told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli that the injury would mean that he would miss the match against Torino next Sunday.

The doctor added that the prognosis for recovery would be around 15 days.
