“We had a few chances, but the important thing was to win. Tonight we showed character, because Milan were really well-organised,” the Belgian midfielder told Mediaset Premium.

“We defended well and can consider ourselves satisfied. Last season we didn’t win games like this, because we played pretty football and didn’t finish them off.

“We’re on the right track and have to believe in ourselves. It’ll be another tough match against Juventus, but we are going there to win.”

In the 3-4-1-2 formation, Nainggolan plays behind the strikers.

“I am in a more advanced role, but I’m not the ‘fantasista’ you’re accustomed to seeing up there, as I work hard and cover the midfield too.”
