“We’ve got to push hard, so for us every game is a turning point,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.
“We hadn’t won away for a long time, but today played with intelligence and sharpness. It’s a shame we didn’t finish it off earlier, because we had the chances to double our lead.
“We held out well throughout and Sassuolo tried to get back into it, but only had one real chance. This was a match played with great spirit and determination.
“After the goal we should’ve moved better, but at times the opposition forces you to go for long balls and slow the tempo. We had plenty of shots on target today and are satisfied with an important victory, but now need to concentrate on the game with Lazio.”
Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa was given only his second Serie A appearance – for four minutes of injury time.
“We are working to improve and grow. He has quality and talent, has been given the necessary time to understand Italian football and is now trying to make his mark along with his other Inter colleagues.”
Joao Mario and Felipe Melo will be suspended against Lazio, as Melo was sent off for a second bookable offence.
“Melo was having a good game and I don’t think the second yellow card was fair. He has character and experience, so just needs to control his aggressive style of play a little better.”
