“In all honesty, we did not expect to be doing this well, but with humility we put together points, created an identity for our football and are in good shape physically,” defender Basta told Inter Channel.
The Aquile are in joint third place with Napoli and currently sit seven points clear of Inter.
“Our position in the table is no fluke. This evening it will be difficult, but we will try to end the year on a high.
“We’d have obviously preferred to face Inter before they rediscovered their form. Pioli has helped them to get back confidence and good football.
“I expect a wonderful game today, but we’ll try to emerge with a positive result from San Siro.”
