Benatia is still owned by Bayern Munich, though he is currently on loan at Juve with a €17m option to buy at the end of the season.

It seems frankly unlikely the Bianconeri would release him halfway through the campaign, especially as they continue to deal with injuries to defenders Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Dani Alves.

Having said that, Benatia has made only 10 competitive appearances for the club this season, seven in Serie A and three for the Champions League.

Daniele Rugani has seemingly surpassed the 29-year-old in the pecking order.
