As expected, Milan have extended Gabriel’s contract and loaned him to Cagliari, with Marco Storari going the other way.
The deal had been in the works for some time after veteran Storari fell out with the Sardinians.
A statement released this evening confirmed that Storari has signed on until June 30 2017 from Cagliari - by which point his contract with the Rossoblu will expire.
Goalkeeper Gabriel has signed a new contract until June 30 2019 and will spend the next six months on loan at Cagliari.
“I am happy with this new adventure,” Gabriel told Sky Sport Italia.
“Milan remains in my heart, but we’ll see what happens in July. I am happy now and thank the club for giving me this opportunity.
“I haven’t spoken to (Cagliari Coach Massimo) Rastelli yet, as it was all done so quickly.”
