Genoa have reportedly targeted Palermo’s Oscar Hiljemark or free agent Sulley Muntari in order to bolster their midfield.
The Rossoblu sold Tomas Rincon to Juventus for €8m earlier this month, and are in the market for a replacement.
The club face competition from Atalanta in order to secure the signature of 24-year-old Hiljemark, but could secure Muntari for free.
The 32-year-old Ghanaian had been playing for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad until his contract expired last summer.
Pescara have also reportedly tried to acquire the former Inter and Milan man, with Muntari starting negotiations with the club earlier this week.
