Caldara has put pen to paper on a contract until June 30, 2021.

However, he will remain on loan with Atalanta until June 30, 2018 for free with the Bergamo club receiving up to €4m in bonuses if he achieves certain targets during that period.

That means the total cost of the operation could be up to €25m.

The 22-year-old was born and raised in Bergamo, coming up through the Atalanta youth academy.

He had loan spells in Serie B with Trapani and Cesena.

Caldara has nine caps for Italy at Under-21 level and this season scored three goals in 11 Serie A games.
