“We must do better than we have done before. When our opponents are at such a high level, clearly it is more difficult. There’s no need to explain how important this game is for all of us,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Tomorrow’s match is important and it is different. We must give our all, honouring the shirt and the fans. An adjective for the game? Victorious.

“To beat Juventus you need determination, but that’s true in life as well. This team can continue to improve. We can lose or draw, but I’d be satisfied if we maintained the same performance we had last season, naturally hoping for a better result.

“We mustn’t just sit back and defend to go on the counter. That would be a mistake. Earlier this season we struggled under their early pressing, then controlled the second half.

“The fact Juve defend with quality and physicality causes us problems when we build the play, but they can also suffer if we control possession.

“To defend against the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, we need to keep the ball as much as possible. There will be no man-marking.”

Sousa was asked about rumours he is on the wish-list for Juventus in future, having already played there.

“I chose to become a Coach, starting from the youth teams, and I am improving. My future depends on my present and I am concentrated on that.

“I wasn’t satisfied even when we were top of the table. Our ambition must be to always do better, every single day. I think so far this season we deserved an extra six to eight points more than we currently have.”

Sousa confirmed Davide Astori, Borja Valero and Nikola Kalinic are available.
