Lazio fumbled a 2-0 lead and missed a penalty, but eventually beat Genoa 4-2 to set up a Coppa Italia quarter-final with Inter.
Marco Parolo’s left-foot strike was deflected by a desperate Diego Laxalt block in the opening stages.
The deadlock was broken after 20 minutes when Djordjevic sprung the offside trap on a Felipe Anderson through ball and fired into the roof of the net from eight yards. It was his first goal for the club since April 2016.
Moments later, Cristiano Lombardi flashed an angled drive across the face of goal and Patric hit the side-netting. Lucas Orban clumsily tripped Djordjevic from behind, but Felipe Anderson’s penalty was very weak and smothered on the line by Eugenio Lamanna.
A scorching Goran Pandev volley flashed inches wide of the near top corner from the edge of the box, but Lazio did double their lead with an unexpected strike. Wesley Hoedt gathered a good 20 metres out and unleashed a daisy-cutter into the far bottom corner.
Genoa pulled one back before half-time as Mauricio Pinilla curled a splendid lob into the far top corner from 12 yards.
Remarkably, the Grifone completed the comeback within four minutes. Isaac Cofie’s shot from the edge of the box took a deflection, which turned into an assist that Pandev pounced on to redirect.
Straight after the restart, Pinilla sprung the offside trap, but hesitated and failed to make the most of the opportunity.
Genoa were far more determined in the second half and Lucas Ocampos almost put them in front with a screamer that thumped the upright.
Lucas Biglia hit a fresh-air shot from the edge of the penalty area and Lazio restored their lead with a moment of magic from substitute Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Orban clearance was poor, but nobody could fault his chest and volley from seven yards.
Pinilla’s overhead kick wasn’t far off target, but on the counter Jordan Lukaku rolled across and Ciro Immobile smashed the finish in from the edge of the box.
