There have been strong reports of Roma interest in Defrel, but the club repeatedly stated he is not for sale during the January transfer window.

“Defrel is going through an odd moment,” said Coach Di Francesco in his Press conference.

“He had a few fitness issues and everything that is going around him right now is not helping anyone.

“People act like Pescara are at the last chance saloon, but the truth is there are many games left this season. We want to get back to winning away from home and these matches are dangerous because Pescara’s hunger and determination can cause us problems.

“I want the same attitude from my men, to be focused from start to finish.”

When these sides met in Week 2, Sassuolo ran out 2-1 winners, but the 3-0 victory was assigned to Pescara for the fielding of ineligible player Antonino Ragusa.

He had already signed the contract, but was not on the squad list handed to the Lega Serie A.

“It was a defeat of the club, not the team,” noted Di Francesco. “It was our mistake and we can’t blame Pescara for that. It all went wrong from there, but it was our own fault and we can’t just shift the blame.”
