“Words are nothing compared to all the emotions that I felt and will keep in my heart…” wrote Zarate on Instagram.

“I just feel the need to say ‘thank you Florence’ and with a bitter taste in the mouth I leave this beautiful city that welcomed me like a son, protected and cuddled in this difficult time.

“Now is not the time for pointless controversy, but considering the situation over the past few months, I had to give up and change route.

“I just hope that in the very few occasions I had on the pitch, I showed you at least half of all you gave me!!! Thank you Florence, thank you Viola fans.”
