The little Belgian cancelled out an Ilija Nestorovski opener – with the aid of Josip Posavec’s howler – but also rattled the woodwork and forced several saves.

“It was very difficult today, as Palermo were well-organised and didn’t leave us any spaces. They were all sitting back behind the ball,” he told Mediaset Premium.

“We scored the goal too late to go on and win it, but still should’ve taken some of the chances we had at the end. It’s not good dropping points at home, because this is where we need to win.”

A victory would’ve put Napoli in joint second place with Roma, but instead they remain two points behind.

“It’s a long season, we’ve got to keep our heads up and stay strong.”
