The Sicilians brought in Lopez this week after Eugenio Corini resigned and almost won on his debut, having taken the lead through Ilija Nestorovski at the Stadio San Paolo.

Dries Mertens only equalised when his shot squirmed through the arms and legs of Josip Posavec.

“We knew that coming here would be tough, because Napoli were doing so well,” Rispoli told Mediaset Premium.

“Posavec deserves praise, because he had a great performance with so many crucial saves. We will try to get as many points as possible to close on Empoli in the table. We’re convinced we can achieve great things.

“The new Coach worked very hard on defence, keeping tight and compact, not giving spaces for Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Callejon to run into. He helped solidify the side.

“We played as a real team. Now we’ve got to make the Stadio Barbera into a fortress, which it hasn’t been so far.”
