Udinese winger Rodrigo De Paul insists there was no malicious intent in his tackle that left Milan’s Mattia De Sciglio at risk of a serious ankle injury.

De Sciglio reportedly faces two months out after he left Milan’s 2-1 defeat to Udinese on crutches from a heavy De Paul challenge, but the Argentine assures he has “already apologised” to the full-back and is not a dirty player.

“My goal was important because the team won, but it’s also true that I’ve waited a long time to score after my goal in the Coppa Italia,” he told the Zebrette’s official website.

“Fortunately it came. It was a move started by Cyril, Jankto gave me a beautiful ball, fortunately Donnarumma didn’t come and it was great to celebrate with the fans, who always support us.

“They couldn’t celebrate for three games. Now we must start thinking about Chievo, we’re level on points with them and it’ll be an important game for the purposes of consistency.

“The foul on De Sciglio? I’ve already apologised, I’m not the kind of player that goes to do harm to an opponent.”
