Roma still have some hope of getting the Stadio della Roma project approved after the latest draft was rejected by the local authorities.

The Regione Lazio announced this evening that it had voted against the plan to build a new arena in the Tor di Valle area of the city.

This version of the project was presented in April 2016 and had already undergone adjustments with regards to the height of towers and the size of the area covered.

Closer inspection of today’s multi-page statement find there is a door open to potentially getting it back on track.

There would have to be many more changes to the project presented, above all with regards to roads surrounding the stadium, constructing roundabouts, intersections, ramps and more parking spaces.

It would require significant additions to the local transport system in that area.

There was also a “lack of paperwork” cited in the response, so that can be fixed with more documentation.

Some areas of the project would need to be moved, as there are sections of the site that are already prone to flooding.

Although there are multiple problems with the project as it has been presented, the report from the authorities does suggest where to make changes.

Having said that, this process will take a long time and Roma are a way off starting construction.
