Roberto Donadoni says Bologna cannot afford to give Genoa any encouragement in today's Serie A match.

The encounter at the Luigi Ferraris is the first in charge for new Griffone boss Andrea Mandorlini, following the sacking of Ivan Juric last week.

Sections of Genoa fans are said to be planning a boycott of today's fixture in protest at the way President Enrico Preziosi is running the club, but Donadoni believes the atmosphere could inspire his opponents.

"I can't speculate on the opponent but we will work on ourselves," the former Italy boss told a Press conference. "We know what we have to do.

"The atmosphere in Genoa could give their team a combative attitude that will win the fans over, so we need to do well to not encourage that reaction."

Bologna have lost their last four League matches, with Donadoni acknowledging the need for his players to tighten up defensively.

"We need to be more switched on with our marking, we have left men free too often. It is not a single defender's problem, it is the group."
