Simone Inzaghi admits the international break is coming at the wrong time for his Lazio team.

The Biancocelesti were held to a goalless draw by Cagliari this afternoon but extended their unbeaten run to eight matches in all competitions.

They now lie five points behind arch-rivals Roma in the race for Champions League qualification, with the Coach admitted his players had performed below their best in Sardinia.

"Today we were less brilliant than on other occasions. Cagliari played very well, they gave everything," Inzaghi commented.

"We could have done better, we had a couple of chances but we didn't take them.

"We take home this point, we came to get three but it doesn't always go well, sometimes you have to respect the opposition.

"We've got an intense ending to the season, now there is the break but I hope to get everyone back in the best shape possible.

"I wouldn't have wanted the break now, but the schedule was decided a while ago and we knew it. When we get back, we've got Sassuolo and then the derby. We need to be ready."
