SERIE A MATCH REPORT

Serie A Week 5 - 25 Sep 2013 (19.45 UK)
Livorno 1 - 1 Cagliari
Luci 24 (L), Ibarbo 53 (C)
Stadio Armando Picchi

Livorno continued their strong campaign with a stalemate against Cagliari.

The Amaranto were having a surprisingly good start to the season after promotion from Serie B, sitting in sixth place with seven points from four rounds. They hosted Cagliari without Marco Biagianti and Ruben Botta, while Cagliari made the trip without Andrea Cossu and Francesco Pisano.

Livorno had kept two consecutive clean sheets going into this game and Cagliari were without an away victory since February.

Livorno broke the deadlock from a classic counter-attack, finalised by captain Luci at the back post from a smart Innocent Emeghara assist.

Emeghara thought he had put his name on the scoresheet in first half stoppages, but was flagged offside.

Victor Ibarbo equalised for the Sardinians when pouncing on a lucky deflection from 10 yards.

Francesco Bardi was at full stretch to palm away a Nene free kick, then Ibarbo scuffed his shot when one-on-one with the Livorno goalkeeper.
