Fiorentina – Debrecen
Head-to-head
Fiorentina’s 3-4 win at Debrecen in the previous match round was the first ever meeting between the two clubs.

Fiorentina also played Hungarian opposition in the 1960s. In the semifinals of the 1961/1962 Cup-Winners Cup Fiorentina beat Újpesti Dózsa SC 2-0 and 0-1, only to lose the final to Atlético Madrid.

In the 1966/1967 Cup-Winners Cup Fiorentina were eliminated by Rába ETO Györ (4-2) after having won 1-0 at home.

Head Coach András Herczeg led the club to a fourth Hungarian title last season. He was previously the assistant Coach for their three other title successes in 2004/2005, 2005/2006 and 2006/2007.

With 12 CL matches under his belt László Bodnár is the third most experienced Hungarian player in CL history following György Korsós (22) and Imre Szabics (15).

Péter Czvitkovics became the first Hungarian player for nearly three years to score a Champions League goal when he netted v Fiorentina.
