Jonathan David has agreed to join Napoli in the summer, allowing them to take a step forward in the race with Milan and interested Premier League clubs for the Lille striker.

The 24-year-old Canadian forward has just over a year left on his contract with the Ligue 1 side and is expected to be sold in the summer, keen for a new adventure after four years in France. Last week, his entourage met with the next Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna.

David has not only attracted the attention of Napoli as Milan are also keen to snap up the striker, needing to bolster their frontline in the summer as Olivier Giroud looks to head to the MLS. Other Rossoneri targets include Benjamin Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee.

David deal

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, David has agreed to a five-year contract with Napoli worth around €3m net per season following their recent meeting, allowing the Partenopei to take a step forward in their chase of the striker.

An agreement still needs to be reached with Lille, who want around €45m, €10m higher than the Italian side’s current offer. Napoli are pushing to try and get the edge over Milan and the interested Premier League clubs.
