Two representatives apiece from Milan and Juventus started for the United States mens’ national team in their slightly chaotic 3-1 victory over Jamaica in the CONCACAF Nations League semi-final on Thursday night.

Rossoneri pair Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah started on the wing and in midfield respectively. It was the same story for Bianconeri duo Timothy Weah and Weston McKennie.

The US endured the worst possible start on the night, as Jamaica’s Greg Leigh popped up at the back post to head the visitors into the lead after just 35 seconds.

Musah, McKennie and co had to wait until virtually the last kick of regular time to draw themselves level again, as Jamaica’s Cory Burke unfortunately misguided the ball into his own net following a Pulisic corner.

Coventry City striker and substitute Haji Wright then struck twice within 15 minutes of extra-time to provide the USMNT with a 3-1 victory over their Caribbean counterparts.

Prior to kick-off, Juve’s McKennie drew particular praise from former Leeds United and RB Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch, who was a guest pundit on CBS Sports US coverage of Thursday night’s game.

The American was highlighted for the ‘tactical discipline’ that he has learned under Massimiliano Allegri since returning from his loan spell in the Premier League with Marsch’s Leeds United last season.

Pulisic was also a topic of conversation from the CBS punditry team. The Rossoneri man was praised for his versatility and for his familiarity with performing on big stages for both club and country.
