Nicolo Zaniolo made it clear that he’s keen to return to Serie A this summer after spells with Aston Villa and Galatasaray, so where could he end up?

The 24-year-old forward left Italy in February of last year after forcing through a move away from Roma, joining up with Galatasaray on a four-year deal. After a decent six months in Turkey, he left to join Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, where he’s struggled to make a strong impression.

Zaniolo made his feelings apparent in an interview with Corriere dello Sport, where he underlined his desire to return to Italy in the summer. He also suggested he ‘deserves more chances’ with Aston Villa and claimed ‘the Turkish reality’ was difficult for an Italian.

Zaniolo: ‘I deserve more at Aston Villa, I miss Italy a lot’

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, no Serie A clubs have come forward for Zaniolo yet, but things are expected to heat up as the summer transfer window approaches, with a few teams seeming the most likely to work on a deal.

Before he joined Galatasaray, Milan were in talks with the Italian forward’s entourage, and they could return in the summer, although the departure of Paolo Maldini may have closed this door.

Fiorentina were interested in signing Zaniolo last summer before he joined Aston Villa and haven’t forgotten about the 24-year-old, but they need to understand the financial margins of a deal.

The Italy forward dreams of playing for Juventus and a move to Turin cannot be ruled out, but much depends on which coach ends up leading the Old Lady going into next season.
