Max Allegri’s comments in his press conference were read by some as an attack on Juventus for their January transfer strategy after he snubbed their signings.

The Bianconeri were in the thick of the Scudetto race until crumbling in recent months and have now slipped down to third position.

While other clubs were focused on reinforcing their squad, Juve’s January arrivals barely set foot on the pitch.

During today’s press conference, the coach was asked if he had any regrets about the January transfer market.

“The club takes care of the transfer strategy. What’s done is done and we cannot change it now,” replied Allegri.

Calciomercato.com saw this as a direct attack on director Cristiano Giuntoli and the hierarchy for choosing to invest in players who Allegri barely used.

Tiago Dialò was poached from under the noses of rivals Inter, secured for €5.1m plus another €2m in add-ons, but the former Lille defender is yet to play a single minute of football for the Bianconeri.

The more controversial signing was Carlos Alcaraz, at a cost of €3.9m for the six-month loan from Championship team Southampton.

There is an option to buy for €49.5m, a sum that Juve never had the slightest intention of paying.

Allegri used Alcaraz for only six Serie A appearances and one 60-second cameo in the Coppa Italia, for a total 193 minutes of football.

Giuntoli is widely expected to support the dismissal of Allegri this summer and the arrival of Bologna coach Thiago Motta.
