Livorno have enjoyed over 10 seasons in the top flight during their history, despite being absent from the First Division between 1949 and 2004. The outfit were a well-respected side that even came close to winning Lo Scudetto in 1943 when they ended up just one point adrift of champions Torino.

It has been tough ever since though. The Tuscan boys have spent much of the last 50 years in the lower Leagues. They were in Serie C in the late 1990s but the arrival of Aldo Spinelli as President saw him inject the cash necessary to win a surprise promotion.
